Abstract

Nowadays, Homelessness is considered as a social harm and a serious challenge in different countries, including Iran. Structural factors such as economic, employment and housing issues and non-structural factors such as personal and family issues are influential in the emergence of homelessness and structural factors are mentioned as the main cause of homelessness. Based on the conditions caused by the homeless life, the homeless are exposed to threats of victimization before and during the homeless life experience. This article, with a descriptive-analytical method, seeks to find the necessary answers to the question that from the perspective of structural theories of criminology and theories of victimology, what are the factors involved in the victimization of homeless people? The findings of the article indicate that the conditions governing the lives of homeless people due to the influence of structural and non-structural factors have a direct effect on their victimization, and some personal characteristics and vulnerable aspects such as age and gender are also effective in intensifying the possibility of victimization of homeless people in two phases before and during homelessness.
